Used to dish out layouts. Now I resort to digging through my files for old images. Havent dabble in photoshop for some time. Lost interest. I can tell you to use dithering and gradient tool. The already overused, not quite passed its time, style.

I dunno Mark, I can see how the webmasters group might be useful in the future, but all it's been is lame-ass anouncements and people plugging sites and complaining. Whoever started it didn't do good a job at introducing himself and explaining what he'd like to achieve from the group. I delete 95% of the emails I get from them at present. I mean, look at the moron who said stealing material should be considered a compliment...

Borrowing of images, and using the stupid lame excuse that the person should feel like he's been complimented is a crap load of bull.
So I signed up to the entire TTwebmasters. Some seem decent.

do your research and concepting first. learn to sketch your ideas offline, or at least have a clearly stated idea for your project BEFORE you start it.

don't start a project by staring at a blank photoshop canvas. the concept will never be strong enough that way, ever! don't let the tools for creation dictate what you create. meaning don't allow the programs to limit what you can and cannot do with design, because you can do anything.

I certainly approve of pixelstation, if you check their portfolio you can see they've done very complex sites (content and programming wise), althought their layout and design for anything other than their own site may be a little dry. Matrix (their site has disappeared) were the first people to do some e-commerce and they also know their technical aspects, but again, design not so great. As for the others, they just crank out generic, crappy sites off a template and excell at nothing, Caribscape and Sputnick leading that pack.
