ok lemme say this.

Harmonix Music is THE FIRST job that I actually like.

It may be because I'm now starting this job, and it still seems new and exciting, but damn!

The Producers, and Programmers actually come up to QA and chill with us, watch us play, and actually talk to us.

There was a freakin "Fruit Salad Day" today, where everyone comes together for about 30 minutes to chow down on fruit salad and play Xbox 360! With the bosses, people!!!

I have to keep working there, by any means.

Plus, there's super cute asian chicks.

Wish me luck people.

OK I have to go on about Dragon Quest VIII.

This game is the first truly great RPG since Final Fantasy VII. Level 5 (the developer) has pretty much captured the essence of fun in an RPG. Its not long winded, not overly complex and 'deep' with questions like "Why do I exist?", "Is there a God?" and "Does it all matter if I save the world?". Instead, the characters are likable, pleasant, and have great expressions. You actually end up caring about the characters and their back stories. I haven't felt like that since Barret thought his daughter got killed in the great collapse of the Mako Reactor in FF VII.

The point is, Squaresoft is losing this sense of wonder in their quest for "better graphics" and "cool looking characters that have nothing upstairs". Now, I played the Final Fantasy XII demo that was included with DQ VIII, and I have to say: I'm not in the least bit excited about the next FF. It was bland, waaaay to removed from the tried and true formula of FF (why am I running around during battle if the dinosaur can still hit me when I'm not even near to it?). The characters, though they look good, all look alike (blonde japanese girls...even the guys), and lack any kind of passion. By the end of the demo I was so sure that I wanted to get back to DQ, that I never looked back, and that demo will probably collect dust more than the top of my TV.

It almost seems like Square gave up after FF IX (the last 'Fantasy' of Final Fantasy).

Long story short: buy Dragon Quest if you have the ability. It truly is a magical experience, that is truly difficult to put down. You'll come home from work (or school) dying to know what will happen next to Yangus and King Trode (not to mention the main character who never speaks, but has more emotion than freakin Squall, Tidus, and Yuna put together, who I aptly named "Rampasad"). This may be the last great RPG for the PS2. period. Cause Square aint coming with anything cool in the near future.

O great goddess, grant this child a brief respite.
